7th and 8th days-off –> Albuquerque and Santa Fe

Again 2 days-off. More than enough to be ready for a long and crazy trip.

This time, and that makes a hugeeee difference, I filled my car with 5 crazy people, a happy mix between my work, couchsurfing and craiglist (the local leboncoin website). Thanks to my car to hosted four of us for the first night : it is called a rudimentary campground.

Direction the Big Balloon Festival in Albuquerque (New-Mexico) with around 750 balloons. The event is the largest hot air balloon festival in the world with :

  • The dawn patrol : pilots take off before sunrise and fly until it is light enough to see landing sites.

  • The Mass ascensions : one of the biggest events of the fiesta, where all participating balloons launch, filling the sky with hundreds of balloons at once.

It is unbelievable but true, I came face to face with the Brittany big balloon. Hurry up, hurry up, they were almost in the air, I run just in time to heard them speaking french with a little britanny accent. I almost took my chance to flight home in their balloon… But…. it is not my time yet, a lot of adventures are still coming for me in Arizona 😉

We also took this opportunity to visit :

  • Albuquerque : bustling crossroad with a sneaky charm based on the folks. Perfect timing to admire a flamenco show, which made me feel in a foreign country.

  • Santa Fe : second-oldest city and oldest state capital in the USA. It’s got the oldest public building and throws the oldest party in the country. Lucky us, we found a great couchsurfeuse who hosted us in the hostel where she works, downtown Santa Fe called : Guadelupe INN. Is that not a sign ??!!! My ancestors were here to bring me luck.

→ No national parks or monuments during this trip because of the Shutdown !!!!!
