L’université d’Aalborg et mes cours

     100_3990

Le master: “development and International Relations is an intensive two-year master program. It aims at providing an interdisciplinary insight in studies of development and international relations from a social sciences’ perspective. You will achieve knowledge about various theoretical approaches to the study of development and international relations, learn to analyse aspects of economic, cultural, political and social developments from an interdisciplinary perspective, and benefit from the experience of working in an intercultural environment derived both from participation in the international degree program at Aalborg University and from an internship.

Les cours:

  • Regional integration and regionalisation: schemes of closer regional cooperation or even regional integration have become frequent and worldwide phenomena. All in all these efforts of regional cooperation and integration have created an important new dimension to international relations. In this course we inspect various examples all over the world and try to gauge their impact (which varies netween the cases). We will also discuss a row of theories which have been proposed to interpret the genesis and dynamics of these phenomena.

  • Theories of itnernational relations: during the lectures you will get to know the discipline’s history and content. You will get to know both the traditional or main stream approaches to the study of international relations (IR), and the most important of the alternative ones. Additionally there will be case-study sessions / exercises, where you will get the opportunity to use the theories in a practical way. We hope to be able to get diplomats to visit us during the semester, to offer you their points of view on international relations.

  • Theories of social sciences and methodology: the basic study activity at our programs is project work, i.e. interdisciplinary problem-based learning. This demands that the students are able to read critically academic texts from other disciplines. This in turn requires overview knowledge about the various research methods. In projects, in particular during the master thesis, there are also often possibilities for doing original research, for example doing interviews or document analysis, which of course requires a good knowledge about the method(s) implied.

  • The syrian crisis: this seminar seeks to give a better understanding of the Syrian conflict by introducing relevant political science theories on civil war and apply them to the conflict.
  • Political and economic development.
